Insights:Ideas on Napkins

Ideas happen anywhere, anytime. Thank goodness for three-ply napkins.

Each year Insight develops a theme for Sioux Empire Community Theatre’s upcoming season. So, what thematic concept do Barefoot in the Park, Driving Miss Daisy and Sweeney Todd have in common?

Exactly.

That was Doug’s challenge. Then, one evening over a beer, we talked through the handful of ideas for the season’s productions. He started sketching ideas on a napkin. I listed ideas for those visuals. Together, we agreed on potential combinations.

That was the birth of this season’s theme: Stage Hands. The final concept morphed a bit, but maintained the theme as sketched on the napkin.
