Insights:Insight Crew Joins “Women Build 2022”

September 20, 2022

Availability of affordable housing is a serious problem around the world and in Sioux Falls. While the solution is not an easy one, one of the most effective approaches has been neighbors helping neighbors. Habitat for Humanity began showing how effective this approach can be in 1976 by helping future homeowners build their own homes with the organization’s staff and volunteers.

Because woman and children are most affected by affordable housing issues, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls hosts an annual Women Build Day. This event invites women to assist in building a home in the Sioux Falls area for a deserving family. This event has been so successful that the 2022 “Build Day” has been extended to three days.

Never ones to shy away from a good cause, and a chance to use power tools, Insight’s Partner and Vice President of Digital Services, Jill Smith, Media Director, Gaye Grider and Associate Account Executive, Katrina Vyborny all volunteered to roll up their sleeves, put on work gloves and lend a hand building a new Habitat for Humanity home in our community.

While the work can be difficult and blisters are not uncommon, the feeling that comes from knowing you’re helping people achieve the strength, stability and independence homeownership brings is worth every sore muscle.
