Our Media Buyer is responsible for researching, planning, placing, and auditing scheduled placements in various mediums. They find appropriate broadcast channels, programming and print / digital publications for our clients’ messages to appear in. The Media Buyer always has their finger on the pulse of the widescale advertising industry.
The Media Buyer meets with Client Service team members to discuss the objectives of media placement, then makes recommendations on placement based on available budget and timeline. They interpret the client’s needs and develop a media placement solution to suit that purpose. The Media Buyer may also meet with clients to explain various medium choices and options, so effective presentation skills and the ability to develop rapport with a wide audience are vital to your success.
They also coordinate with the production manager to ensure publication, broadcast and/or digital material deadlines are met.
Responsible for research and marketing, the Media Buyer does media, industry or company research so the agency can construct an accurate strategic advertising and marketing plan for the client.
Desired Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience at an advertising agency or similar media planning / placement experience
Well-versed in all types of media, and must stay current with rapidly proliferating new media options
Trained and fluent in media-related computer software
Excellent with numbers and able to maintain accurate records of media spends for multiple clients
